Super fun, the characterization of everyone is great, and the artwork is amazing. I'm very excited to read the next two volumes!

I really loved this. I don’t know why, but that panel of Batman, carrying Leo bridal style was particularly hilarious to me. Interesting story, definitely like this crossover.

'Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Vol. 1' by James Tynion IV with art by Freddie Williams bring us a crossover I never thought I'd see. I also thought it was a pretty good one, with art that took me back to some of the early days of the Turtles.

Batman is on the trail of some missing high end scientific equipment. Due to a portal, two very different New Yorks have been linked and Batman is about to run across some strange beings. When he first encounters the Turtles, he thinks they are at odds with his investigation. They aren't sure who he is, but he's got cool gadgets! The Turtles break into the batcave and are impressed (huge batcomputer and a giant T-Rex!). The problem is that the longer they stay in this New York, the more something bad is happening to them. Also, Shredder is in this New York and making the wrong kind of connections with Batman's foes in his bid to rule both worlds.

This was a lot of fun. Tynion makes it work by making Batman a bit lighter and making the Turtles a bit darker, neither of which feels out of character. The arty by Freddie Williams had a kind of Eastman/Laird feel to it which I really liked. I just had a silly grin on my face the whole time I read this. I really enjoyed it.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from DC Entertainment and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

Well that was fucking rad! If you haven't already, either read this or watch the animated film that was released recently. Both are very good in their own ways. This comic was really fun and just... Just rad.

The TMNT have crossed over with many other heroes in the past: Usagi Yojimbo, Cerebus the Aardvark, Savage Dragon, even the Power Rangers. But this one with Batman is by far the best crossover to date. So many story elements made sense, and Tynion and Williams took advantage of similarities between the mythos of both worlds. Loved it. I hope they'll cross paths again in the future.

This was honestly a fantastic crossover! I was just four years old when the original TMNT animated series debuted, and it quickly became one of my biggest obsessions. I even made my first (and only, sadly) comic book in the late '80s with front and rear covers, each page carefully illustrating one of the four turtles. My mother laminated it and preserved it all these years, for which I am grateful.

Anyway, back to this book: James Tynion IV does a great job scripting the whole thing. Despite the fact that his writing and plotting experience has primarily been in the Batman world, I found the story to be tonally much more aligned with TMNT, which Tynion is new to (AFAIK).

*edit/amendment note*: You should know that both crossover events are based more on the Saturday morning cartoon version of TMNT than on the original black and white comics. My first clue was that Leo, Raph, Mikey, and Donnie have their signature colored eye masks - blue, red, orange, and purple, respectively, as opposed to just the red ones they all wore in the original self-published books by Eastman and Laird. Next, Michaelangelo (whose name has been misspelled since he was created) pretty much only contributes jokes about pizza, video games, and crashes into Alfred on his skateboard while enjoying Wayne Manor. Shredder starts out in the costume he's most famous for from the cartoon as well, as opposed to a business suit. Clearly, the creative team and editors that pitched this crossover knew that the cartoon version holds much more nostalgic capital for potential readers.

Now, I know from experience and pop culture history that taking two legendary icons that people love and putting them together does NOT always produce good results. (See: Bob Dylan x Willie Nelson, for one infamous example from decades ago) Readers have good reason to be wary of hyped-up crossover events, but this one delivers the goods, combining the nuances of Gotham with the distinct personalities and skill sets of the turtles. I love Batman, and I love Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Now I can say for certain that I love the two of them mashed up!

Nostalgic, but modern. A good read, and I would take a sequel where Batman's in New York.

This is really nicely written and strangely a good combo! The art is great, Alfred is the best, and personalities are portrayed perfectly. I love batman and raph's moment and def fills it with heart.

The cover art in the back are really cool, the old school tmnt style really fits nicely and I would love to see more like that.

-update-

I would treat this as a one shot and have fun with it. Now that I've read the 2nd one...it's clear that they packed this to the brim and once they continue they don't have anywhere to go. I still enjoyed this one.

What a crossover. Batman. TMNT. All their villains. All the above and more. And the artwork
