This book took me by such surprise I was hooked from the second I started reading it. I really couldn't predict the storyline or the events that took place. I was so foolish when I started reading this book thinking that I sort of knew what was going to happen because I'd read most of Somme's books. However, a true testament to Somme's ability to keep her readers on the edge and surprise us because this book really did that for me.

Wow Cillian, what a difference a book makes?! In the Devil's Keepsake he's so warm in the few moments he allows himself to get close to Poppy, and then, this?!

I loved this book, just like the first one I was hooked immediately. Cillian is the grumpy antihero we all want. Dahlia was sunshine despite the hell she had been through. While Dahlia had put herself in the situation, she did it out of trying to live a life her parents wanted for themselves. Cillian had grown up in a life he didn't deserve but learned to embrace it. He found family within Quinn's family and Dahlia even though he promised himself he wouldn't. The only problem I had was the ending felt rushed. I wanted more suspense, I had to read it a few times to fully process what was happening because it was so rushed. Overall, it was a great follow-up to the first book with great spice and I cannot wait to start the third.

Again, this book was full of red flags but I still enjoyed it. This book actually had a lot of really sweet moments and was a true slow burn, but with the added bonus of some steamy scenes along the way. I definitely enjoyed this authors style & her character entanglements.
