I wouldn’t recommend reading this for the characters but in terms of ideas and spectacle, I’ve really not read anything like this series

Clearly a step below the first book largely due to an underlying plot rift of literally omnipresent and near omniscient sophons.

This book was a wonderful and quite frankly (in the end) hopeful sequal to to the three body problem. The main characters are filled will flaws and are put through hardship. From
the wallfacer project to the near-suicide of wallfacer Luo Ji
it was very developed and detailed. Also where the problem comes in. Way too damn long. So much beautiful detail, and yet I have to glaze over some of it to keep me from boredom. Overall great.

It’s amazing, genius, thought provoking; all things I have learned to expect from mastermind Liu Cixin. But either it’s a level of sci-fi so advanced or I’m just struggling, because I partially relied on chapter summaries from Reddit to make sense of like half the book. It’s not always a bad thing when I have to find a synopsis for a confusing book, but it partially takes away from the experience. This definitely continues to be an epic science fiction on so many levels.
