The novel started off strong, and I appreciated the variety of perspectives and character voices. However, I struggled to believe the reason(s) for Jake’s commitment to his wife is what kept him in his unhappy marriage. I was also disappointed in the ending… it felt fast and a bit abrupt after we had spent soooo many summers leading up to the last one. Because we had been given different points of view, there could’ve easily been a bit more to add to the last summer.
And a side note for a minor character… why was Cooper’s lack of happy marriages such a problem through the entire book? And that it never felt fully resolved?
