it was interesting, but some parts felt unnecessary, could have been shorter & achieved the same result. also, the slang language doesn’t seem very genius or interesting if you already know russian & english, so that was kind of a let down in terms of stylistic interest, yet it was certainly a unique reading experience this way. also the 21st chapter - kind of a letdown
esp. on the wife & kids portion, he’s better sure but he still doesn’t see women as people, so by how much?
makes the whole thing fall flat a bit in terms of character development. nonetheless, a semi-worthwhile read, maybe i’ll have a more positive outlook on it on a second read.

Fine. I can see how this book was groundbreaking to the western white world in its time, but it mostly falls flat. The vernacular detracted from making the world building vivid and immersive which felt important for the dystopian setting. This book also felt too much like Cold War, Christian propaganda to take its message about free will seriously in a way that’s feels relatable today. It’s very misogynistic and the characters all felt very 1D. the ending felt very rushed and anticlimactic, like the ending of this review.
