Robin Hood. Interesting but nothing surprising here either. Still, if you like Robin Hood, why not read it?

I love the Robin Hood tail but this version is definitely not my favorite. The Robin Hood tail faults that the men gain all the glory and the king saves the day. I have seen this corrected in some retellings but this author seems to prefer to keep and even worsens them.

I never really understood why a band of outlaw rebels end up following a king into battle. You can't be anti-police but pro-military.

I veri protagonisti sono Much, Little John e Marian.

Fun little Robin Hood retelling, in which Robin is resistant to the idea of being a hero, and his fellow outlaws work on the folktale aspect. Mostly frames it as Saxons v. Normans question. In this version, Robin is not a lord in hiding, but other outlaws are nobility. Marian has a lot of freedom for a woman, especially a noble one.

I only got through 3 chapters. I didn't like any of the characters or the idea that Much and Marion were putting together a political movement right from the start.

I love Robin Hood. I mean, god, I do. I also like Robin McKinley. So picking this book up was a no-brainer. Unfortunately it's been a few years since I've read the book so even though I think it's a 5 I have to tentatively give it a 4 until I can refresh my opinion on it. But I can tell you that it's a great read at least the first time!
