when i tell you i was INVESTED in brielle and spencer's story more than i should've been...i mean it! some of that might've had to do with the fact that i read addy's book first before i even knew that brielle had her own book.

but let me tell you....reading broken dreams first before this was so much more powerful! not only cause you fully understand what addy was going through, but the way i was already attached to brielle and spencer. watching them fall in love (again...cause amnesia trope) was so worth it!

did i cry? yes

am i going to read other books in this series? also yes

help me remember by corinne michaels is the first book in the rose canyon series.

we get brielle who was attacked and has suffered from a traumatic brain injury (TBI), affecting her memories from the past three years. we learn her brother was murdered during the attack, and it's crucial that brielle tries to remember who murdered her brother. so what's there to do? with the help of her found family in her brothers best friends, she just might recover what she lost.

"go back to the beginning, back to the very last thing i could remember, and work my way forward from there"

help me remember had me sitting on the edge of my seat. i've read stories with similar plots, but something in the way corinne michaels tells this story makes this one stand out. it's a raw, real, pulls at your heartstrings kind of story. i won't give too much away, but i'll just say i enjoyed every character in this boook ❤️

read help me remember! it will not disappoint!! i'm very excited for emmett to be next

I loved the trope, but the execution was quite disappointing. It started well in the beginning, but it soon became clear that the characters didn't have any distinctive personalities. It was as if the characters only existed so the plot could move forward. I didn't care about them, and this made it even harder for me to root for the main couple because I found Brielle to be so frustrating at certain times. I was expecting some angst brought on by the memory loss, but it wasn't explored too much. There were also way too many meaningless filler chapters. I skimmed through the whole water balloon fight date chapter. Also, one of my mystery book pet peeves is when the murderer ends up being a person who was not even mentioned as a suspect before. Unfortunately, this book done exactly that :/

DNF at 75%

I found the SE at a Used Book Store & was very excited to have found such a gem! I have never read anything prior by this Author. But, I was intrigued with the premise. What started out really promising, soon began to unravel.

All of these were issues in the book early on. I really gave it a chance and overlooked a lot of stumbles:

-FMC wakes up in the hospital after a few days, having to discover she was assaulted & her brother did not survive the attack. (There was a lack of serious injuries that I was looking for, or an explanation to why exactly the fmc, Brielle, lost her memories. But, I rolled with it as it wasn’t something I got hung up on).

-Because her brothers killer has still not been found or there are any viable leads, the prosecution has told the family and friends to not in any way assist Brielle with her memories. As it would be seen as undermining her testimony. (Odd, but again I rolled with it).

-I was pretty bummed out that very, very early on you discover out Brielle was in a secret relationship. (This is something I would have LOVED to have been something discovered near the end of the book).

-Even though there were definitely things that were very cute and had me continuing to read, I realized that a lot of what I read up until the 75% mark really had no purpose to the story. And I did not feel like I wanted to read how the Author was going to cram in the conclusion to who the killer was in the remaining 10 Chapters. Not to mention the way she threw in a lovely “break up act”, which made no sense….

This story had potential, but the way it was executed was too boring and didn’t have a clear destination. Bummed that this book let me down.

Okay, met these folks briefly in one of the previous books and I liked them so I wanted to read their story too. And holy crap, it had been alluded to but I had no idea what was coming. This is technically romantic suspense, which I didn't think would be my jam for some reason even though thrillers and mysteries used to be my genre before I got back into romance. Memory loss, secrets, loss of a loved one. Lots going on and it was interesting! It also dropped the bomb of book two brilliantly right at the end and I will definitely be moving on to that one next.

Lots of intrigue, chemistry and suspense!

I usually don’t like amnesia storylines, but I really enjoyed this one! This book had great world building, fantastic characters, intrigue, suspense, sizzling chemistry between Spencer and Brielle, and more! I can’t wait to see what is up with Emmett in his book!
