Audio was phenomenal - Greg really is amazing!!

This wasn’t my fave Alice book. I miss the quirkiness and banter and just strange/weirdness she often writes. It brings me joy and it’s hilarious. This was much more serious.

The overarching themes of bigotry and ignorance were so well done. It really highlighted how we often allow ourselves to perpetuate false stereotypes due to our own ignorance and fear.

Most of this novel felt like the set up for true story, not just Rowan’s secret. That being said, i did appreciate getting the deeper dive into the pack’s dynamic and Quinn as the alpha.

This is not steamy. There is lots of emotion here but very little spice. You do get a great story tho.

Book by itself is a 3.5, but decided to round up because the audiobook is well done. Also I'll gladly listen to the next one when it comes out, as I'm interested to see where things go.

EDIT: have come to some conclusion and will not be picking this book up

ok so this is a true PAUSE over a DNF and yeah I could just 'want to read' but this is the only way my head will allow me to do

STOPED @ 32% and will pick it up again when book 2 comes out.

I just not mentally able to continue this book right now. no fault of the book but just life in generally and reading is stressing me which it shouldn't and if I continue it will most def influence my enjoyment which also isn't good.

am liking it to this point tho, so that's good

4.5 stars rounded up because this was an overall generally enjoyable read for me.
Alice Winter is one of those go-to authors for me.
Quinn and Rowan were excellent. I loved them, their banter and just the way they clicked.
Ari deserves a shout out being just such a goofy little monster sticking his nose into Quinn and Rowan's business but for all the right reasons.
As usual you do need to expect a lengthy read as Alice Winter's books do tend to be on the longer side.
The story itself keeps you interested as why Rowan gets involved with Quinn's pack changes and transforms into a whole different engaging story.
You are left wanting more and needing to know what happens next.

Though we don’t get a lot of shifter lore backstory, other than the fact they’re considered second class citizens, I found I wasn’t missing that detail. The story starts quick and moves quick with a little time between the action to see Rowan and Quinn fall for each other. I loved Rowan and Quinn. I loved that Quinn wasn’t a stereotypical alpha. I’m eagerly awaiting book two!

Wow! This was absolutely nothing like any of Alice's other books but it was fantastic! The plot was well thought out and interesting enough to hold my attention. I was seriously engrossed in this story. The characters are well developed and extremely loveable (well, most of them lol). I've always loved shifters but this was the first time I've read a book with multiple species making up one pack. One of my favorite parts was the humor, something Alice is well known for, combined with the traits of the different animal species. This book has mystery and action as well, things that make this a well rounded and delightful story. It's a HFN so I'm anxious to see what's next for Quinn and the pack.

I only found Alice Winters books a few weeks ago even though I’d bought this and VRC several years ago and didn’t listen to either . I love her writing and the characters are perfect each series brings you the snarky characters and the grumpy character but every one works and the plot is excellent .
