3.75* If Becky Albertalli writes it, I’m going to read it. It’s as simple as that.

Becky’s writing is so readable and she has such a talent for creating characters I can’t help but adore and while this wasn’t my favourite of her work, I still had a great time with it (e.g. I literally read it in one sitting and have zero regrets).

Becky has her finger on the pulse of Gen Z queer culture and it was so delightful to read. she even used rizz correctly! the fandom aspect felt so personal because i spent all of high school obsessed with Marvel. the main ship wasn't giving giving but it was cute!

Look, I knew I wasn't going to like this and I'm not why I picked it up other than it was on my library's new releases and you always kind of know what to expect from Albertalli. I'll give her props for encapsulating quite how painfully ridiculous fandom discourse is, though. If you read this and recognised yourself in those segments... get well soon 🙏

I loved Imogen obviously and I'm quite disappointed at how unreadable I found this to be. The writing is choppy and all over the place, the audiobook narrator who also narrated Imogen obviously was somehow giving me a headache on this one and I just don't think I can continue reading it. Loved the Imogen cameos though! She will forever be my baby.
