So, so good! One of the best CHoover books I've read so far. I was dragging to get started, but it sucked me in pretty quickly. Highly recommend this one if you have several on your shelf and you're unsure of which to start with.

Going into this, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to like the main character Kenna, because of her actions. I say this, because I lost my mom in a very similar way to how Scotty was taken from the world. How could I root for someone who caused so much pain? How could I feel sorry? Well, Colleen changed the game and I bawled my eyes out. My heart not only hurt for Scotty’s parents but for Kenna. This was such a well written book, in the sense that I never annotate, but there were some passages that I want to hilight and underline because they spoke to me.

And let me add that Ledger is the best male character that Colleen has written yet! To even read feminist books to make sure he raises Diem right

Now that it has been a few days since I read this I feel like I’m ready to make a complete review without being biased for this incredible author.
This is my third CoHo book and it would be understatement to say I didn’t have high expectations. I couldn’t help it and I know many of you are the same. However, once again, the expectations were exceeded.
Is this plot line predictable in a way? Yes, it is. You just expect things to eventually turn on the good side for the characters that Colleen makes you fall in love with throughout the entire book.
I’m not from USA, but the reality of Kenna’s life is the exact same thing we have here. It is so sad to have a justice system that doesn’t do the research and only looks for someone to blame and be guilty, because they need to have someone to blame for the whole thing.
I was so desperate for Kenna… The way I knew the story wasn’t well explain and how hard she kept trying, kept pushing, to have another opportunity in life. Kenna is my age and it was heartbreaking to see so many doors closed in her face because of a mistake.
And don’t get me started with Ledger. If there’s faith in the world it’s because of people like Ledger. Not once he put his personal feelings above the ones he loves. Was he very conflicted? Yes, but if you wonder why you’ll realize that it was only because he thought he was doing the best for either Diem, Kenna, Patrick, Grace or even Scotty.
I just love all the emotions I felt while reading and how the entire story is shown to us. I laughed, I cried, I was frustrated… Everything. And that is what I consider an outstanding book.

Very boring. Don’t like the two characters perspective storytelling style. Predictable. Just sooo boring. Had to skip through chapters to get through it.

The Queen has done it again. Magic. That's all that needs to be said.
