This is so over the heads of children that would ask this question. I have asked this question as a child and can imagine other, harsher scenarios in which children would ask this question, and this answer is like a businessman screaming “SYNERGY” in a boardroom. Someone is trying to help or even just make themselves look good, but ultimately it does not help and may even hurt. Did not enjoy.

Abuelo shares the landscape and history of where they (he and his granddaughter) originate, but the best part is when he points to his heart. "You're from here, from my love and the love of those before us ... You are from all of us."

This story is beautiful! It highlights the very details that make up our culture, out histories and the survivals of our ancestors. In the end, there is a wonderful message that where we are from is not a simple name of place but rather where our hearts are and who they belong to.
I never knew that a children’s book could be so poetic.
“You come from the sunshine that lights our path in this world and the rain that washes away our mistakes.”
