I really liked this book a lot. It was not at all what I was expecting. Save for the beginning and the very end, this book was not a mystery/suspense at all. Instead it was a slow slow slowww burn (at times too slow) character study about the consequences of extreme trauma on a person and a community. You’ll need to suspend disbelief at times, but the characters are so raw and beautifully drawn that you forgive any narrative liberties the author takes. It took me a while to get through this one, but it was worth it.

Absolutely loved every minute of this story. Whitaker does an amazing job of showing how dark life can be, and yet there's still good worth fighting for. Very excited for his event in York next month!

The story of two friends that are there for each other throughout the ups and downs of their lives. When Patch is abducted, Saint doesn’t give up on him and when he escapes they both search for the truth and find out about themselves.
Beautifully written with lots of twists and turns with the answers elusive but within reach. A great cast of characters and a tale that keeps you gripped.
