Emotional, bleak, and frustrating in all the right and wrong ways. It dragged, then hit, then dragged again. But when it hit, it hit. Some characters I wanted to hug. Others I wanted to scream at.
Relationships carried this story. If you like your trauma tender and messy, you might vibe with it.

This one is 576 pages long, and it could have been 400 maximum personally.
I went into this thinking it was a thriller as stated on the back, but it definitely wasn't. I would say this is a coming of age drama with thriller and mystery elements.
It started off really promising, I loved learning about our main characters and their connection, and pretty much jumped straight into the action. It made me want to read further on and helped that the chapters were, on average, around 2 pages each!
I found the middle section quite boring where not much happened? There was mini cliff-hangers scattered throughout, but not to the point where I was aching to read on. I did enjoy that it was told through dual povs to give a different perspectives. Regarding the mystery element of the book, it dragged on so much that by the end of it, I really wasn't invested at all!
I wasn't a fan of the writing style either. I feel the sentences were way too long with minimal or no commas, and had to read them 3 or 4 times over just to understand them!
The ending definitely pulled it back a bit for me. My rating was going to be 2.5 stars but then the bumped it up to a 3. I didn't see how it was going to end up and was surprised by some elements. I also loved our main characters and really found myself routing for one in particular.

Audiobook. Heartfelt. A bit slow at times. Very well written and researched. Highly recommend- the way the twists came together in the end was pure art.
