Oh wow what a read! I really liked the writing and the characters were developed well. It was a roller coaster of emotions - devastation and hope.

INCREDIBLE BRAVO OMG. This is one of the greatest books I’ve ever read. I want to scream on the top of my lungs off the mountaintops for everyone to read this book. The character development and plot is just so beautifully and tragically written. Chris Whitaker is an absolute genius I will now be reading every one of his books. The friendship, love, sacrifice … everything in this makes you want to sob your eyes out from happiness/sadness and everything in between. I went through every emotion reading this book. Saint and patch are such impeccable characters. 10/10. This is a must read

*All the Colors of the Dark* is a good blend of literary fiction and thriller, with an emotionally gripping plot and well-developed characters that keep you invested. The writing at times did blow me away with the emotional impact it carried.
This is the slowest burn of a book I think I’ve experienced so far this year. I put this book down so many times five minutes in after attempting to read it. I did think about DNFing but the two main character’s will kept me going. It does have good pacing in the beginning and the end but the middle 300 pages made me feel like molasses.
The writing often feels overly wordy, and the narrative can be confusing at times, making it difficult to stay fully engaged. I completely missed an entire plot development because of the way it was worded (I didn’t know until I looked it up later!). While the characters' emotional depth shines through, the pacing suffers due to the heavy prose. I was really looking forward to this one. Ultimately, this book was one of the biggest disappointments I had in recent reading. I do think if the writing style was more my vibe I would have loved this one.

I really enjoyed this! The absolute scale of the narrative was stunning and I was intrigued by the mystery. I kept feeling bad for Saint every time she devoted EVERYTHING to Patch and he never seemed to appreciate it but their ending felt nice.
The reveal that Toomes was performing abortions and that's why he had blood in his basement was surprising. The fact that Nyx killed Callie's father (for raping her and leading to her fatal abortion) and then killed himself because Toomes was about to be executed (I assume that was Nyx's reasoning) was heartbreaking. They should've gotten their happy ending in the sun.
The discussions of abortion were interesting and I was feeling a little weird when it seemed like Saint was regretting hers. I had no reason to think Whitaker would take an uncomfortable pro-life stance but other authors blindside me with that so I was wary. The fact that Saint had actually put her son up for adoption was really surprising.
Grace being Eli Aaron's son was not the biggest shock but it was a good resolution.
I just really enjoyed the story and the characters (Sammy was a gem). It was a great literary mystery.
