For a book that is about giving a voice to the female characters it has a patchy record in doing so. Felt like Ariadne's life and fate kept being determined by male characters whose weirdly accelerated character development kept happening off-page somewhere....

This book was good considering that is was the debut novel of the author. But the book felt rather slow to me and I felt like the character development of the main character only happened in the last few chapters.
