Worst book I have ever read. Only good thing about it was that the main couple broke up.

This was so much better than the first one for multiple reasons: a kickass FMC who finally stands up for herself and stops taking all the bs her boyfriend is throwing at her, a heartwarming found family, more action, a lot less Jaxon and o m g Hudson >>>>>>>
I had a good fucking time reading this and once I got to the 75% mark quite literally couldnt put it down.
Grace finally developed the personality I knew she could all along. She went from a whimpering, naive fool who kisses the ground Jaxon walks on, to a badass who knows exactly who and what she is and isnt afraid to stand up for herself and what she believes in and who still sorta kisses the ground jaxon walks on.
Their relationship is still the thing I hate most about this series. Because after what happened to Grace at the end of book 1, Jaxon turned into even more of a overbearing, overprotective, insecure and obsessed idiot. He's whiny, angry and stubborn to a fault. He's hell bent on protecting Grace from dangers that arent even real, that he refuses to see how powerful she is and who the real enemy is. Grace doesnt need protecting. She needs someone who sees, treats and respects her like an equal. And while Grace knows that what jaxon is doing is wrong and that she doesnt like it and even calls him out on it occasionally, she doesn't actually do anything to stop it. Jaxon gets a slap on the writst for being a "beautiful, broken boy" (your mother didnt pay enough attention to you? boo-fucking-hoo) who's lost so much already. So, while she still gives him a pass for all his bs, i'm hoping that with her newfound confidence and strength and with the help of Hudson, she'll realize just how toxic this relationship is.
Hudson was the breeze of fresh air this series desperately fucking needed. Not only because he's the only actually funny one and because he spelled out what we're all thinking about his brother Jaxon (namely that he's a whiny, simpering, overbearing, idiotic and ignorant bastard), but also because he's actually the only really interesting character. Unlike everyone else who so cleary either black or white, he's morally gray (just like we like 'em). The homocidal sociopath isn't as evil as everyone believed him to be and there's more to the story as to why he did what he did. Something, that in my opinion should've been fucking obvious to Jaxon. But this massive wanker only saw what he wanted to see and now he has to live with the knowledge that he killed his brother when he didnt have to. I hope it keeps him up at night :)
Hudson's relationship with Grace was a delight: the enemies to friends to hopefully lovers, the BANTER, the tension, the pining, the desperation, the mistrust, the support. Its Damon Salvatore all over again and i'm loving it.
all in all this was a masssive improvement from the first one and with the way this book ended, I'm looking forward to the next one where, hopefully, we get even less Jaxon and a FMC who finally wakes the fuck up.
