Not very interesting or original. The ending was really abrupt.

I had this book on my radar for a little while, but the final push for me was seeing Jeaniene Frost recommended it. I love her Night Huntress series and was hoping her book recommendations were going to be as good as her books. Fingers crossed I downloaded the book to my Kindle and started reading.

I am glad I listened to Jeaniene’s advice because Devil Without a Cause did not disappoint. Much of the story does focus on Finn and Faith and the struggles they are enduring but, the Devil, aka Sammy, also plays a major role in the book. I am used to rooting against the villain and wishing harm would come to him, but I could not muster that kind of hatred for Sammy. He has been brought up before in Terri’s Nicki Styx books, but since I have not read those yet, I was not familiar with him. Having not read the other books though, I did not feel lost during this story. I am interested to go back and read the Nicki Styx books now, but I read Devil Without a cause without a problem. As for the Devil himself, he is a clever, lying, cheating, pretty much all around evil guy, but for some reason I still loved him. I know, I know, he is the devil, but he was so funny, I could not help but look forward to his dialogue in the story. Terri puts a whole new spin on his reasons for being cast out of Heaven and I found it all fascinating. I am hoping this is going to turn into a series and we will see more from Sammy.

As for Finn and Faith, I did like the two of them and they had good chemistry. It was interesting to see them try to come together and solve both of their problems at once by getting out of a deal with the devil. Faith also had a son come into the mix and I will admit that I don’t always like seeing children come into play in books. They tend to just slow down the pace and I am not a fan of that. However, Faith’s son, Nathan, only enhanced the story. He was a burst a sunshine and happiness and helped to bring Finn and Faith together. They are both so busy trying to save their souls, they don’t take the time to understand how precious love can be, Nathan was eager to remind them of that.

My only complaint for this book was the ending. It just felt a little abrupt. I felt the story was still at the tip of the climax and we did not get a real resolution. The story does not have a cliffhanger, but I wanted one more chapter or an epilogue just to tie everything up.

Overall though, I really enjoyed this book and the new world that Terri has introduced us too. I am keeping fingers crossed that this will turn into a series and we will get to see more from Sammy and whatever poor souls he manages to convince to enter a bargain with him.

This one was just ok for me. I didn't really connect with Finn, Faythe and her young son were interesting characters. I can't really put my finger on why I didn't get into this one more...more story lines than I was expecting and not a lot of depth to them.

I hated to end this book, I know that I now have to wait for the next book. On the other hand I am really excited because I know whatever it is will be amazing.

Our protagonist Sammy is sooooooo hot and so bad. In the Nicki Styx books he always just seemed to be a bad boy and not so bad. I mean I knew he was the devil but I didn't feel it until this book. I truly felt Sammy was the devil in this book. Shame on you Sammy. And then in the next breath I was so overwhelmed with his "humanity". I felt like I was on an amusement park ride and that is a good thing.

Should you read it? Oh yeah you should!! Go buy it!! Or borrow it!! But just read it!! You won't regret it.

I have never read any previous books by this author even though the character of the Devil is in a previous series. This book branches off the Nicki Styx series that the author created, focusing on the Devil's story of betrayal and love. That being said though, I didn't have a hard time figuring out what was going on since this book was set as a separate story series. Yes, there was mentioning of the character Nicki, but it left me with no confusion and actually had me interested in buying that series as well.

The Devil is portrayed a little differently than usual in this series. Yes he is still the fallen angel Lucifer, but he goes by different names and he is sexy as hell. He dresses with the current fads, and he even likes mingling with humans as well. While I enjoyed his conversations with Gabriel the Angel, and his devious nature of lies and seduction, the character of Finn was my favorite by far! A rock star who has sex appeal and a heart of gold is perfect for the single mother Faith. They had chemistry and he stole the focus of the book! While Faith seemed a little wishy-washy to me, I still liked her enough to keep reading the story! When she makes a deal with the Devil to save her son from cancer, she has no idea the task he set her on will lead to love and completion. When Finn figures out what is going on, he has secrets of his own that he needs to tell Faith so they can defeat the Devil at his own game.

What I enjoyed the most is how the author made you feel sympathy and empathy for the Devil even though he is suppose to be a bad guy. He actually seemed to be in the gray area instead of always black and white. Pretty bad when you fall for the bad guy in the story and start cheering for him! I wanted the Devil to have a happy ending as well.

All in all, a great new series by a great author. The story building was great and paced nicely. The romance was nice, even though it felt a little rushed at times. The characters held my interest for the entire story. I also found an author who I am thrilled to add to my auto buy list! I have even ordered the Nicki Styx series now so I can get more of the back history on the Devil!

Faith McFarland has a little son named Noah. Noah has been diagnosed with cancer. While in the hospital chapel, Faith is approached by the last person she would ever expect. It is the Devil. The Devil wants to make a deal with Faith. If Faith will retrieve an item for him than the Devil will cure Noah. This is too good a deal for Faith to pass up. She agrees.

Long ago, rocker, Finn Payne made a deal with the Devil for his soul. Now the only thing keeping the Devil from taking Finn is a ring that he wears. Faith had every intention of taking the ring from Finn but that was before she got to know the real Finn. Now, these two much try to bargain with the Devil.

I have not read anything by author, Terri Garey. After literally devouring this book, I will be check out more of more of Terri Garey’s books. Devil Without a Cause is book one in the Devil’s Bargain series. While the music was good, Finn and Faith were even better together. They rocked and are meant for each other. Even their first name’s both start with the letter “F”. In the beginning it may not have been destiny that brought these two together but in the end destiny is what would keep them inseparable. The Devil in this book is 99% evil and 1% good. I hope to get to know more about the Devil’s love interest Nicki. I made a deal with the Devil and it all starts with Devil Without a Cause. This book is sinfully delightful!

I read this book not knowing what to expect, just saw it at Wal Mart & decided it looked good and I was not let down. I loved all the characters, even the sardonic devil Sammy. I will definitely read any other books in this series & I believe I need to read the Nicki Styx series by Terri Garey as well given how much I liked this book. :)

Bought for myself
Overall Rating 4.5
Character Rating 4.5
Story Rating 4.5
Devil Delish 5.+++++ (I am not messing with that blue-eyed devil)

NOTE: I totally picked up Devil Without a Cause on a whim. I have never read anything by Terri Garey before but believe me that will change. This book was wicked smart, funny, and a tad bit smexy!

What I Loved: Really I could just write the "whole freaking story rocked" because it really did. This is one of those stories filled with fun times, hard choices, little surprises, and one devil of a dilemma. I don't want to give away the story but I was really moved that both Finn and Faith had very big things to lose if they didn't each keep their bargain with the devil. However, since it was impossible for each of them too, then the journey was very much heart tugging at times. I loved the interactions between Gabriel and Sammy, they were my favorite moments in the book. I also had to grin with Sammy got a "little" surprise towards the end. The mixing of humor and heart-string pulling was done really well and kept me engaged from beginning to end.

What I Liked: Finn's staff was great! You just really have to read the last 2 chapters to understand how awesome they really were. There was a moment that I was literally cheering.

Complaints: Not a one!

Why I gave it a 4.5: Highly entertaining read with a handsome devil and a ring of chaos. How could you go wrong?

I have loved Sammy from the first time we met him in Nicki Styx series so I was super-excited that he got his own series!! This book did not disappoint. And it is worth buying just for the gorgeous cover :-)

In order to save her son´s life, Faith is forced to make a deal with the Devil. Yes, the Devil we know :-) Sammy is still the bad boy as usual (which is why we love him) and of course he has his own agenda in mind and so the play begins :-)

Faith´s task is to steal a magical ring from the rock star Finn. But what Sammy didn´t tell her is that without the ring, Finn´s soul is Sammy´s to take because the ring was the only thing keeping him away.

The book covered both Faith and Finn´s love story as well as Sammy´s life in his hellish kingdom. I have to admit that even if the love story was really good, what I really LOVED about this book was Sammy´s part. We see more of his background, his memories of the Paradise as well as a BIG surprise (which I hadn´t expected at all!!). Because of what he did for Nicki Styx in her last book, he is now given a chance for redemption. Will he take it or will he stay the King of Lies, the Devil himself?

This book can absolutely be read as solitary but you will enjoy it much more if you have read Nicki Styx series first.

I liked this book, but some of Samuel’s POVs were a bit boring.

I liked Faith and Finn, but I thought that the book could have shown more of their lives and what would happen after they got off the island. Nathan seemed like a nice character, but he wasn’t shown enough so you don’t really see his interactions with Faith and Finn.

I liked the last few scenes that were told from Samuel’s POV, but it felt like his story wasn’t finished yet.

The plot was a bit annoying, specifically the ring.
Finn tells Faith that if she gives him the ring back, he will make sure that Nathan has the best medical care, but I didn’t understand how he could believe that when Samuel is the expert on death so wouldn’t it make sense to believe him?

I don’t think that I’ll continue with this series as I’m not too interested in reading more about this world, but I might try some other books by this author.
