I like how the 3 characters carry the majority of the story so you are invested in them before Poirot arrives on the scene.

A nice story, though Poirot is a relatively minor character until the end; he's as charming as ever, but the three main characters who lead most of the investigation are not nearly so interesting.

I find the pacing slower compared to contemporary thrillers but the structure of the novel, divided into three acts like a play, is both clever and fitting, as the story revolves around a series of murders that occur at social gatherings.
