There’s nothing to say that hasn’t already been said about TYOMT. It was beautiful and reflective and my chest panged with nearly every page. She managed to transcribe grief and mourning and the mental absurdities throughout the process.

Uma parte de mim, não queria começar o novo ano. Queria permanecer continuamente em 2023. Em 2023, duas das pessoas com quem eu mais gostava de partilhar as minhas conquistas despediram-se de mim para viver o que chamam a vida eterna. Fazer a transição para 2024 era deixar de viver num ano em que existimos todos ao mesmo tempo. Em 2023, eles ainda estavam aqui.

É sobre isto que Joan Didion fala. Conseguiu pôr por palavras o que sentia.

Ninguém quer viver para lá de quem ama. Conseguir escrevê-lo é saber senti-lo. Saber sentir é saber viver.
