How the hell is this novel rated Young Adult? I understand the characters are young but this is not something a young adult reader would be allowed to touch by parents.

I can't get over the fact that these are FRESHMEN...ignoring the sex, gambling, and driving, what sort of 15/16 year old is covered in tattoos? And I felt weird reading mature scenes knowing that they're from a child's perspective.

Hard book to read - esp to those who can empathise with Marnye. But having read book 2 - she comes back with a vengeance
