Well it has finally ended, not sure as much as I liked it whether I would recommend it.
It seems to contradict it's own rules set in the earlier books at times and thus is a bit frustrating.
It does each a satisfying conclusion, but leaves to many unanswered questions.
Will not pick up anything in a sequel series, Brett should try something new.

It's done, it's over, thank god, there were so many characters and so many I just really didn't care about. My overwhelming desire throughout the whole of this book was "let's get to the end".... which isn't a great feeling when it's a huge epic fantasy. But it felt like I had to slog through either characters who were kinda bland and I didn't care about (did I care about any of them? Shanvah, maybe?), or battle scene after battle scene after (let's switch it up with a travelling monologue), and it just got so loooonggggggggg.
Glad to see the end of this one, really. Good fantasy series if you want a heavily battle inspired set, but not if you want something idk, actually engaging.

Can't believe I about gave up on this series after The Daylight War. The Skull Throne and The Core were both amazing and I'm glad I finished it!
