I think this is one of her better romance novels. It's silly, predictable, unrealistic, and bizarre sometimes, but Elsie is a "pip." A lot of her Stephanie Plum inspiration is hidden in these novels, and Elsie Hawkins is the beginnings of Grandma Mazur.

Of the early "Loveswept" books, this is my favourite so far. First of all, I always wanted to be a professional orchestra musician. Secondly, how could you not fall in love with the cutie next-door?

I have to make a quick comment regarding the fact that yes, this is definitely a cookie-cutter romance. So what? Once in a while that is exactly what a person needs. When that is the kind of book you want, this is the perfect book to read. If you want deep plot and serious character development, look elsewhere. But if you want, or NEED, light reading that is going to take your mind off the really rotten crud going on around you and is going to make you smile, or maybe even laugh, for an hour or two, this is going to fit the bill.

Humorous, light, and fun to read. I've enjoyed almost all of Evanovich's re-released early romances.

Not Janet's best work. The storyline isn't believable; I mean, I know it's a romance novel, but this just didn't make much sense and I was a little disappointed. But, these types of books got her her start and I'm glad that it was a stepping stone for her, because the Plum series are the best!

I was looking for something quick & light, hence the book. From the cheesy title I was expecting an equally cheesy & cliche plot, dialogues & characters. What caught me by surprise was how cute & witty all the characters are, which made it a very enjoyable read.

I give this a 4 only because the likelihood of these two folks ever getting together is simply zero. However, very madcap romance, enjoyable, funny.

It's a quick read, a formulaic romance novel that is great for poolside or a lazy afternoon. I like Evanovitch's style of writing and her ability to pepper a story with some quirky and humorous characters.
