"Grown-Up Pose" was a heartwarming contemporary story of a woman trying to find her identity outside of being a daughter, wife, and mother. There is a romance aspect, but the main point of the story is Anu's journey. Anu does a lot of soul searching and trying new things, and it was interesting to watch her thought process through it all. It's an emotional journey, and Lalli captured that pressure valve feeling after listening to everyone else for so long. I liked the characters and writing style. I'm excited to read more from Lalli.

Disappointing! The whole time you think the main character will end up a strong independent woman but by the end you're just willing her to grow up!

3.5 stars - It was really good.
An enjoyable romance where the heroine has other important things in her life to figure out, so the plot is not solely focused on love interests. The characters were well fleshed out and I enjoyed watching the heroine find herself, albeit belatedly.
-------------------------------------------
First Sentence: Anu Desai tied her hair back with the elastic around her wrist and broke into a jog as she turned into the back alley.
Favorite Quote: In India, we have a saying. Loosely translated, it means...when you put gold in the fire, it shines. It’s hot, and it burns, but that is life’s experiences…. They will make you shine.

Brought me to tears, this was a book for the daughters of Indian immigrants and their relationships with love and family, the character development was so good and I felt like I learned a lot about myself through this book

This is "men ain't shit: the novel"
In this book the main protagonist leaves her husband (much to the dismay of her loving but traditional Indian family) because she's dissatisfied with her life with him & the unequal housework distribution etc. etc.
She buys a yoga studio and decides to find herself! And I was all for that EXCEPT... none of the storylines really come through in an interesting way? Things just kinda happen as our protag lurches wildly from revelation to revelation
This is called out as messy at least
But the REAL galling thing about this novel is that the conclusion to this whole storyline is... the unequal domestic labor in our protag's marriage is HER FAULT because SHE "LET IT HAPPEN"
