One Direction: the book. It's an okay read, and I think I would've enjoyed it more if I hadn't picked it up immediately following a 5 star read. It's one of the first books I've read that really made me feel myself growing out of YA - not something I ever thought was possible, but here we are. There are definitely still bangers in that category I'll read and enjoy, but I think five years ago, I would've felt way differently about the book. 

The dual perspective might actually do the whole thing a bit of a disservice. It gets difficult to feel with the characters, and I think with teenage angst, you kind of need to be situated firmly in the teenager's point of view, or it starts to feel a little half-baked. Even as a ride-or-die Directioner, this book didn't manage to get at the middle-school-me who still lives somewhere below the surface (and it's not a hard thing to do; the video diaries still get me.) It's not quite cheesy enough to be loved for the cheese factor, but not easily taken seriously, either. 

That said, it was fun, and I think 15-17 would probably be a sweet spot that could enjoy this book really easily.

When I brought this book I didn't know what to expect. I saw it in the shelves of my local bookstore and the tittle caught my attention. Upon reading the summary, I decided to buy it because it seemed like something that I would like. 

And I was right! I really like it! Look, the way that the story is structured, I can see why people may think that this is a somewhat one direction fanfic turned book. There isn't anything that tells me that one direction (and the fan theories about some members of the band having a secret relationship) were an inspiration to the book but comparisons can be made. Nonetheless, lets review the book by what it is and not what could be. And I liked it! Its cute, heartwarming and has fluff, just the sorta of thing that I was looking to read at the time that I started this book. 

So, I would recommend it if you want to read something sweet, light and cute.

Alsooo ganz knapp: Zach und Ruben (1. Fehler, einen der Main Characters so zu nennen…) sind in einer sehr erfolgreichen Boygroup und sie gehen nach Europa auf Tour. In dieser Zeit kommen sie sich immer näher und Zach merkt, dass er vielleicht doch nicht straight ist, weil er sich so sehr zu Ruben hinzugezogen fühlt. Sie müssen das Geheimnis dann vor der Öffentlichkeit bewahren und werden dabei auch noch von ihrem Management ziemlich unterdrückt.

Nun zu meiner Meinung:
- Vom Schreibstil war ich nicht begeistert, aber es ist auch ein young adult Roman, von dem her war ich nicht unbedingt die exakte Zielgruppe.
- Die Liebe hat sich für mich nicht sehr nachvollziehbar entwickelt. Es war so von 0 > 30 > -20 > 100 > 350% 🎢 🫨🎢…
- Der Plot war absolut vorhersehbar, hat mich aber nicht extrem gestört (toll fand ichs, aber auch nicht).
- Angel (einer der Mitglieder) hatte außerdem Suchtprobleme und alle waren so „hmm er nimmt wieder Drogen und bringt alle in Gefahr, aber ich habe gerade auch keine Nerven übrig, um mich mit ihm zu beschäftigen“ …?!?!??!! Das macht doch einfach alle anderen Charaktere unbeliebt und fuckt ab :)

I liked it. It was a cute and fun audiobook. I did kinda guess but some of the more challenging storylines definitely helped make become drawn into it. 

I did feel like the ending was just so quick. I almost wish for a small epilogue. But yeah, super cute.
