Loved how much agency the book afforded to the women of the Greek mythos. Saint has taken the figures from mythology and turned them into fully fleshed people with desires and flaws and insecurities. Had a great recurring theme of women paying for the crimes of men. I had questions about the alternating perspectives between Ariadne and Phaedra, mostly because Phaedra only had a POV for the middle third of the book. Solid read overall.

This was... fine. Greek retelling with artistic liberties to cover Ariadne's story including her time on the island she was abandoned on. Well written, covered all the historical bases. Slightly dry in places, but nothing big to complain about, it just wasn't a really good book

A shame because I really do love a Greek retelling but this should not be compared to Madeline Miller - ever. It’s very flowery, which is normally fine but it detracts from the pace of what should be a pretty exciting story. Ariadne is also about as interesting as a wall and I struggled to like her. All the characters are pretty flat which is bizarre given that there’s a rich history there.
There’s nothing wrong with this book but there’s also nothing great about it. I just got so. Bored.
