“Goodbye, my beautiful fuck bunny,” he whispers.
I run my fingers through his hair as I stare at his gorgeous face. “Goodbye, Blue Eyes.”

This book was nothing but a cringefest.

• Emily Foster, the fmc, was childish, immature and gave me second hand embarrassment everytime she couldn't stand up for herself.
• Jamesom/Jim/Jay, the mmc, is a 37 year-old man-child, who has a temper tantrum of a teenager.
• The MCs had nothing except the sexual connection but they called each other their soulmates (yes, I am giving bombastic side eye.)
• They had sex in chapter 2.
• They said “I love you” in chapter 17.
• There was a third-act break-up in chapter 21 because the mmc thinks he's not good enough for fmc and fmc begged him to take her back because she had no backbone but he didn't took her back. (All that money and still no therapy sessions?)
• They made up in chapter 26 and there was no grovelling.
• And this book has 27 chapters + epilogue.

Make of that what you will.

This didn't click for me. I know this was super popular for a while, so I decided to give it a go, but I didn't really find either of the characters likeable. Usually, that's not even a deal breaker for me, but this time it just felt flat.

This is the third TL Swan book I read and I’ve basically read the same book three times. Why are all of her characters a carbon copy of each other? The men are always terrible and the women are always annoying. & the 3rd act breakup? Kill me now.

Per usual, I hate that I liked this book.

Honestly, I loved the lighthearted romance this whole book had. I wasn’t expecting an entire world-built, riveting romance. I got what I came for and I enjoyed it!

Not what I was hoping for...

This is the first time reading anything by T.L. Swan and it had great premise from the blurb. I was excited to see how Emily and Jameson's relationship would develop following a chance encounter on a plane and spending a stopover together. However, this aspect of the story was quickly covered in the first few chapters. This was slightly disappointing for me as wanted more on this, however was intrigued to read on.

Overall, I enjoyed the journey more than I didn't. I liked seeing how Jameson transformed as a character and battled with his different personas ascribed from millionaire boss to just wanting to be an ordinary guy. At times though, I found him way too serious and moody. At points he was quite harsh to Emily, which I thought was unnecessary. His means of watching Emily on the work CCTV also unnerved me, and bordered on the obsessive and self-centred.

Emily, on the other hand, I kind of liked at times and found her slightly annoying at other times. In some ways I wish she was portrayed as a stronger character with more of a voice. I did feel for her at times, as I do think some of the things Jameson said and did, were uncalled for.

Additionally, some of the banter between them was okay, but on the whole found it too much with some of the dialogue rapidly feeling rather cringey.

I found the book to be a bit of a slow read in the beginning, and felt that the characters were going round and round in circles with the same conversations, actions and bickering. This changed with the moment of the camping trip. Here, I saw a glimpse of a wonderful romance blossoming between two very opposite personalities and the whole scene was acted out with innocence and humour. However, the book quickly reverted back to more of the same from before, bickering and then forgiveness on a continued loop.

On a final note, the book was good, however, I'm not sure yet whether to invest in reading any more of the series.

If I read the word “dusted” one more time, I might scream.

The groveling and the HEA are the only stars I can give this book.
