Doesn't work as well in text as in an interactive medium, but still such a cool world. I'll read part 2 before the second game comes out.

I'm a huge fan of Death Stranding (platinum trophy on PS4 and 400 hours of gameplay), and this book is not good.
If you're a fan of the game, you will get a most basic flat retelling of the cutscenes without anything added- if you're unfamiliar with the game, you will be lost entirely.
The part about how technology works is overexplained with unnecessary altered terms, with almost no explanations of how it looks. So you're just left there trying to remember how it looked in the game.
At times, characters are having conversations in the rooms which weren't even described so you're just left there with them without any clue in what settings are they located.
I'm surprised how the book made the characters flatter than they were in the game. It makes me appreciate even more how important the actors were in bringing the story to life.

The book is well written and translated. Moves at a good pace which makes it enjoyable for fans who have played the game first and don’t need things repeating. Personally I would have loved some more book-only details (nothing canon changing) since Sam’s thoughts were great to read. I hope they novelise the second game too when it drops.
I really enjoyed this one. As a fan of the game i was surprised that the book managed to maintain the feel of it, while giving more explanations about stuff that you had to find out while reading a bunch of in game emails. But if you haven't played the game you re gonna find trouble understanding a lot of the stuff happening in this book as well as the overall universe it's set in.
Review of “Death Stranding, Vol. 1: The Official Novelization”
⭐⭐☆☆☆ (Rating System Below)
“Death Stranding: Volume 1” presents a unique and eerie narrative that definitely piqued my interest, but as someone who never played the game, the novelization felt somewhat lacking. While the story is undeniably intriguing with its supernatural elements and mysterious world, it didn’t quite capture the immersive, atmospheric experience I imagine the game provides. I found the concept fascinating, but the novel didn’t engage me as much as I had hoped, leaving me feeling more disconnected from the story than I would have liked.
