my favourite bits of this were when she was talking about the marsh and not about any of the other characters. first half was pretty good but got boring like it dragged especially that court case oh my days bruh so dragged

I don’t read a lot of mystery and suspense books, but this one made it to my tbr mainly because of its film adaptation.
The characters are realistic- or at least, I could see them in my mind based on how they are described.

Gripping. Gripped my ass with emotion and curiosity. I felt so maternal for little Kya I teared up for her a few times. It IS that good!

I think I maybe would’ve enjoyed this more as a physical book… it took me forever to get into it, I just didn’t find myself that interested for the first third at least. The second half and ending redeemed it quite a bit for me! I definitely enjoyed, but not as much as I had anticipated
