It was a slow burn for about the first quarter of the book. Then it picked up and the character development from the first part of the book came into play. I ended up loving it.

Makes me want to go camping. I feel like I'm out in the wilderness and I just want to be Kya's friend and give her a hug. Found myself rooting for the "marsh girl" and I'm a sucker for stories of people who overcome their bad circumstances.

Had a hard time getting into the story because of the third person perspective and the chapters taking place in different years, but once I did I was sucked into Kya’s story and couldn’t put it down. Such an unique story and nothing like I usually read, but soooo good. Am very excited to see how they turned this into a movie!
