This was given to me as a gift 💝 I really enjoyed this story, it had me locked in frfr. There was such beauty in Delia Owen’s descriptions of Kya’s experiences despite how painful some of them were. I feel inspired by the Marsh Girl.

I liked it well enough, but I found some parts to be a bit of a stretch plot-wise and found some of the pacing awkward. There were some reveals towards the end of the book that felt like duds to me. But I enjoyed the evocative descriptions of the marsh and the wildlife.

I was genuinely excited about this book but this was just NOT for me :( The characters were so plain and I HATED the love interest, why? I don’t know. I thought this was going to be more of a mystery, but it was mostly romance which I honestly wasn’t in the mood at the time, which is why maybe I didn’t enjoy it as much? I don’t know. I labeled it as slow paced because it took me over 150 pages to even get slightly interested. I wouldn’t say the book is bad, it was just not for me.

Beautiful book. Took me a bit to get into it, and honestly, I sped-read through
Spoiler the court procedure,
but I loved the character of Kya. I wouldn't change anything about her, and her story is what made the book so beautiful!

This is so beautifully written. I cried when the jury's verdict was revealed (even though I already watched the film and knows exactly what the verdict is LOL). I love Kya's character so much that it made me root for her from the first chapter down to the last. Now I gotta rewatch the film and hate Barkley Cove's "golden boy" Chase Andrews again.
