Hotelier x Photographer/Book seller
Atlas x Elena
Mystery
He falls first
He falls harder
Virgin FMC
We meet Elena, mail-order bride who moves countries to marry her fiancé. I guess this is a perfect example of why dating online is different from dating in person. Tricky. What starts off as a dream come true with Prince Charming turns into a nightmare on dating street with prince damning.Nothing is as it seems, the only stable thing is Atlas. Are we reading too much into it or not. Atlas, a huge hunk of a man (literally), owner of Monarch hotel, knows all in his lair. He has his eyes set on protecting Elena from what? Who? We don’t know… or do we…
I loved Grimstone more. There I said it.

I feel edged by this book.
The beginning started off so strong! The characters, setting, and premise were all promising. The instant connection between Atlas and Elena was amazing. Atlas definitely fell first and hard, making him a downright simp for Elena - which is my kryptonite.
When it came to Lorne, I loved that, as a reader, you definitely knew what was up, but seeing his mask slowly slip and Elena finally coming to realize what she was up against was chilling. Then we had the forbidden aspect of Atlas and Elena's relationship. It gave way to some great tension and especially some sneaky moments of not just tenderness, but some hot and heavy stuff as well.
Ivy was also a wonderful part of the story. Her relationship with Elena was so sweet. In addition to Ivy, the looming deadline of Elena's marriage to Lorne really added to the stakes of her dire situation.
Unfortunately, all this intense build up led to a swift end. The impending altercations between Lorne, Elena, and Atlas felt rushed and had such simple endings. There were so many missed opportunities for heart pounding moments, but we were left with was a dull, quick ending.

3.9 for me!! I enjoyed this one better than the first one. ebook+audiobook made the story for me. great voice acting, immersive and suspenseful. though, the end felt like the first book, a bit rushed without going much into deep but overall it was enjoyable and fun!
Another Sophie Lark winner in my book! This was so addicting and thrilling. The small town of Grimstone is perfect for a spooky read this time of year. The whole town has such a perfect Halloween vibe. The story has suspense, mystery and some twists that keep you fully engaged. The setting of Monarch takes place in a small town of Grimstone. Within this small town is the Monarch Hotel where Elena and Loren her finance are staying while he is currently remodeling/building his house. The owner of the motel is Atlas. He is such a mysterious character- he was infatuated with Elena. Elena is thinking she is coming to America to live the perfect life with her new finance- he is a famous writer. I loved the way this book told the story with many secrets, twists and love story all interwoven into the plot.

Pleasantly surprised how much more I liked this book than Grimstone! It started out so differently than the first it hooked me right away. Mail order bride? Wasn’t expecting that. Atlas was a sour patch kid—sour and rough on the outside but sugary sweet (for the right lady) on the inside. I loved them together.
