I struggled with this one. The dual timeline was ok. There wasn’t a big difference between how the characters acted at 17 versus 27. And manyyyy parts I found too cringey.
I wish we would’ve been able to explore more of them as adults versus as teens.

hear me out, IT WAS REALLY GOOD but the thing with me is that i don't like dual time pov, i like the present chapters more but OH MY GOD THIS BOOK LIKE SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE AND RUNAWAY BRIDE???? SARAH BAILEY WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN MY ENTIRE LIFE?? I loved this book alot, i loved how they both had nicknames for each other and I'm so happy i came across this book at 3am yes Leo was everything i hoped for, that man can walk infront of traffic for Darby like and can we appreciate Sarah for all the trigger warning and mentioning chapters at the back like which author pays so much attention?? i ate this book and yep you can always win me with a second chance romance.

If you love:
-Second Chance romance
-Bad boy/Good girl
-Dual timeline
I love everything about this book.
This book was the adult version of the YA summer romances I used to be obsessed with as a teen.
THE BUTTERFLIES, THE ANGST, THE FOUND FAMILY… 🤦🏽♀️
Both characters are broken in different ways, they find the missing pieces with each other.
I swear it has been a while since I read a contemporary romance that had me so invested.
I need to read every single book in this series now.

Sarah Bailey, I literally love you and everything that comes out of your beautiful brain. This might just be my favorite book of the year. Everything about it was perfect - the writing style, the pacing, the build-up, the heartbreak, the romance, the SMUT

I really enjoyed this book so much! Second chance romances and angsty stories are my favorite, and this one delivered. Leo and Darby were fantastic characters, and I loved how their story unfolded through the dual timeline—both in the present and when they were 17. The story was emotional, beautifully written, and it gave me a full-on book hangover. I’m still thinking about them, and I already miss their world.
My only small critique is that the jumps between timelines felt a little abrupt at times, which made it hard to stay fully immersed in one timeline before being pulled into the other. I also found the dialogue between Leo and Darby as teenagers to be incredibly eloquent and beautiful, but maybe a little too deep for 17-year-olds—it pulled me out of the story a few times. That said, the writing was gorgeous, and their connection was so raw and heartfelt that I couldn’t stop reading.
This is a book I’ll be thinking about for a long time, and I can’t wait to see glimpses of Leo and Darby in future books. If you love emotional, angsty second chance romances, this is a must-read!
