This book was just wonderful. It made me cry, it made me smile, it is smutty…. The couple is so lovable! Such a good read
This book… wow… I don’t even know where to start. I took many notes while reading it. I was so so lucky to have been chosen as one of the ARC readers. I will be thinking about this one for a very long time and will definitely be a reread in the near future. It made me feel all the feels. Happiness, sadness, anger, excitement and much more.
The fact that Taylor swift is a large part of their playlist is phenomenal as well and that she is a lover of country music.
The writing is descriptive and the imagery invoked is beautiful beyond words. For those of us who love the ocean, it made me feel at home. This story was about finding that one person that makes you feel like you belong somewhere. With them. Giving you the courage to go out of your comfort zone and making you feel safe.
Leo taught Darby that is it okay to do things for yourself, and not just what your family expects from and or wants for you. It’s your life. Be happy.
The dual timeline creates even more depth to the story and the anticipation to learn the whole story had a hold on me. This book was also about loss and dealing with the grief of losing loved ones, which I connected to heavily as well. It was done in a beautiful way. This book also showed the impact of religion and how one’s beliefs/beliefs of family and where they were raised, and the harmful repercussions and influences it can have on some people. Darbys dad really angered me the entire book.
The spice was sensual and gripping. Their love did not disappoint in any shape or form. Reading this book was a breath of fresh air and I didn’t want it to end.
I connected with Darby in many ways, including fighting the urge her whole life to always please everyone around her before herself, afraid of letting them down. But that meant keeping her true self from flourishing. Leo brought that out in her.
As someone who has found her one true love, I felt connected to these characters and how the were describing how they felt about one another.
“There being a touch only he can provide, the feeling of the rest of the world fading out until only the two of you are inside it. How it’s worth fighting your whole life for that feeling, knowing it’ll never exist with someone else.”
Thank you Sarah A. Bailey for writing this book. It is a life changer. This book deserves to be a physical trophy on my shelf.
