Mind. Blown. I loved this story so much. It was truly one that tugs at the heartstrings. I adored how all-in Leo was and how he helped Darby find her inner strength and ultimately escape her cage. I can’t wait to continue this series !!
When I started the book I liked the two timelines but it got confusing as the book went on. I didn't like how fast their relationship went, it gave me whiplash especially in the 'now' timeline. Also, while the book was very well written and touched on difficult subjects, the way the dialogue was written felt very monologue like and unnatural
Pros:
There is some great discussion on consent and autonomy discussed in this book. We see how manipulative people use everything to take that away and control all aspects of other people’s lives. This could be triggering for some but it does seem to be done realistically and with respect for people who survive it.
Cons:
I have real issues with the character development or lack thereof. Darcy doesn’t stand up to her father or fiancé much it’s mostly Leo standing in front of her.
Leo himself is a bit of an issue. He’s so cookie cutter perfect. Not angry seeming at being left, not skittish of falling back in with her. He drops everything, throws money at every issue and fixes all her problems.

Ohhh myyy gaawwdddd I DEVOURED this one. I've been excited to read this one since I first saw teasers and was lucky enough to be an advanced reader for Heathen & Honeysuckle! Darby and Leo have my entire heart. They–literally—had so much growth and I'm so proud of both of them. Leo is Darbys #1 hype man and I'm so here for it. Dahlia is the best sister in the entire world. Jackson and Dane should rot in hell <3. There are some sensitive topics that were handled with absolute care and were written in such a beautiful way! This is my first read by Sarah and I also immediately ran to purchase her others. I can't wait to read her next Pacific Shores novel!!!
