Such a diverse group of stories - all of which I found myself able to dive into. Really liked each story in its own way. I like how the author explored different genres - which is cook because we tend to stick to certain ones, so this got me out of my “comfort zone”.

This was a just fine 3 star, the stories imaginative and I liked the writing, but when I finished each would just go huh and move on. Until the second to last story 'Manus' =0 This "review" is a little note to self to get a literature degree or join a real smart book club and then come back and do some lit analysis on that bad boy because It Is Wild.

A great collection of 9 stories that are incredibly easy to get into, which is not always the case for short stories, because they almost read like little novels. They all have an eerie, mystical atmosphere about them and a touch (or sometimes a punch) of unexplained magic, ranging from angels and mermaids to glass-infested lungs and alien invasions. Some stories reminded me of the writing of Jen Campbell, Kirsty Logan, or Kelly Link but Sachdeva lacks some of the other writers' subtlety, she doesn't let her readers stumble through the dark a lot. She also doesn't shy away from icky and uncanny topics, the last two stories made me feel downright queasy. If you're interested, I'd recommend starting with The World by Night, All the Names for God, or Robert Greenman & the Mermaid instead.

I loved this collection of short stories. I have a thing for magic realism and this collection delivers.

Loved this book. The different short stories were mystifying and I felt excited with each page turn as I was transported to different lands and time periods with the a similar theme across all of the stories that unified them in a way.
