My first Rainbow Rowell book. I had such high hopes but I feel so disappointed. Shiloh’s character drove me crazy. Why are you talking during sex about random shit? I’m happy for her that Cary didn’t mind but geez. My lady boner, which was never really erected since the spice in this was nonexistent even when mentioning the word “cock,” deflated instantly. I thought I overthought things too much but Shiloh has me beat. The plot also felt anticlimactic. I know, romance is usually centered around the question of whether or not they will end up together but that is as far as the plot went. The only things I liked about the book were references to San Diego, some of the family aspects and how complicated family can be, and Mikey. Other than that, I just kept wondering when the book would get better and then it was over.

I genuinely really loved this book. Stayed up until 2am two nights in a row just to read it. They way they main characters were so connected and intertwined was such a special thing to see. I really enjoyed reading about their past and present and then eventually future. It was well written and the characters weren't just one dimensional. The way this one made me feel is going to stick with me for a bit.
