exactly what i expected. this book was on my physical tbr for a while, but i picked up the audiobook and loved it.
the characters were developed, the tension was well done, the conflict was fun, and i enjoyed the story.

This was a good book, with a good mystery and a satisfying ending.

It's not the ending I wanted (no, that's not a spoiler because I'm not sure what ending I wanted) but it's an alright ending.

Overall, an easy and quick read which was a welcome change from all the 400+ page books I've read and not enjoyed recently.

I didn't expect this to be my favorite book of the year or anything (it's a YA mystery/thriller & I went in knowing that), but it was much worse than I expected. It was just so unbelievable & so much just didn't make sense. I know that teens solving murder mysteries is always a little unbelievable, but it can be done right (hello, AGGGTM).
First of all, all of the characters just felt shallow & I didn't really care about any of them. Their relationships with each other felt forced, even if we were told over & over again how good of friends they were.
The MCs backstory seemed not that important. Like, it was a major event in his life, but I think the story would have been fine without it or with something else making him famous. Same with Pippa. I know her backstory sets up possible future books, but it didn't really matter in this book other than to make her a suspect for barely even a chapter.
The faculty & staff at this school are also just so incredibly dumb & contribute a lot to making this unbelievable. Especially the staff member who saw what happened but wanted a student to solve it instead of going to the police??? And then possibly wants the MC's help with some other vigilante crap in the future...
There were some attempted red herrings with some of the other faculty, but it just didn't work. You just knew it wasn't them & didn't really make sense with how they were acting.
Overall, this was just not super well thought out or well written. If you're looking for teen mysteries/thrillers, there a definitely better options out there.
