If I had to sum the book up in one word it would be - CREEPY.

I really enjoyed it, I loved the writing, the atmospheric setting and the twists kept me guessing until the very end.

I'm excited to see what the author writes next.

And also I love a book set in Scotland.

Great plot but slow story line especially in the middle of the book.

This book was certainly captivating, as I felt like I needed to know what was really going on. I wanted to keep reading whenever I had put it down, and was certainly interested in the mystery.

I was a little less invested in the characters, though, mostly finding myself frustrated with them. They were all fairly unlikable, though never in a way that felt too extreme or unrealistic. It added to the story, with a unreliable narrator in the largest part of the book. I do have to say that the audiobook got a little bit grating to listen to at times with the voices of the mother and daughter while they talked to each other. I also felt like sometimes the child seemed to feel a lot younger than she was supposed to (though I feel like this was partly on purpose), and I wish they would just ask her things more clearly. A lot of the issues feel like they could have been fixed with more open communication, not just with the girl but also with her school.

I'm not entirely sure if I liked the conclusion of the mystery too much, and I wish thing shad been slightly clearer. But all in all, it was an entertaining book that kept me interested. A solid mystery.

Creepy twins, check.
Crappy parents, check.
Beautiful scenery, check.

All of the hallmarks for a great suspenseful little read.

With their family reeling from tragedy, Angus and Sarah make the decision to move their family away to a tiny Scottish island with their one surviving twin daughter. They're all dealing with the loss of one of their twins in different ways, Angus is falling into alcohol, Sarah is in a pit of depression and Kirstie the last twin reveals that she's in fact Lydia, the twin who everyone thought died.

There's a lot of sad families here, but mostly a hell of a lot of creepy twin-ness.

I love creepy books, and from what I read I thought that this would be a good one, but the ridiculous decision to move an obviously unbalanced twin to an isolated island...without a boat, and parents who barely speak to each other did not add to the story. They were more of a distraction from the main premise of "which one was it". I don't need to like all the characters in a book to enjoy the story, but I found these people more annoying then helpful.
It wasn't a bad read, just not the four and five star quality I expected.

Um, if i'm being honest, i just picked this book up because i wanted something to read, and this seemed interesting. Didn't really expect much, didn't get much. I found all of the characters annoying, and it wasn't really intriguing in my opinion.

This book was good - it kept me reading. But it reminded me of Gone Girl; I just did not connect with the characters. In fact, I found them all fairly despicable. It was an interesting setting and premise, and worth the time, especially if you are interested in ghost stories or Scotland.

This was full of suspense and kept you guessing even after it ended. Super enjoyable and a bit different than other thrillers. I would definitely recommend reading it!

This is a very good thriller which really has you thinking about what you have read.

Following a tragedy the Moorcrofts leave their home and memories behind to start a new life on a small Scottish island. But memories have a habit of following you no matter how far you try to run.

The author totally drew me in with this story. The twists and turns which kept coming throughout, even right at the end, had me second guessing what I thought was happening.

I have to admit that I guessed the final twist, and what actually happens, just before the author reveals it. But that doesn't take away the fact this is a really well written story which totally drew me in.
