STORY ★★☆☆☆ --
First of all, let me just say that I really did like the first two books in this series and it is such a shame to have it end the way that it did.

The story in this book really didn't live up to my expectations and in all honesty it just wasn't needed. Of Neptune follows Emma and Galen to the town of Neptune which turns out to be a town full of humans and half-breeds like Emma.

Travelling here puts the couple at odds with each other as Galen considers the town illegal and wrong whereas Emma sees it as a place where she can be among others of her kind and not be seen as a outsider or an abomination as she often feels among the ocean dwelling Syrena.

CHARACTERS ★★☆☆☆--

Emma -- What I found funny, cute and endearing in the first two books for some reason didn't carry on into this one. Her chapters didn't make me laugh the way they previously did. She comes across as fickle, presumptive and annoying,

Galen -- Galen is grieving in this book. He suffered a terrible loss at the end of book two and you can totally understand where he's at in this story and why he is so scared for Emma and the Syrena as a whole actually. His chapters were the ones that helped me get through the book overall although at some points he does act like an immature and jealous moron.

Reed -- Reed is the first person Emma and Galen meet upon arriving in Neptune. He is another half-breed like Emma and I feel like there was so much potential with him. He taught Emma a lot about herself and her Syrena body and abilities that she didn't know before so that was good. As a character he comes across as a disrespectful, spoilt child. He has no respect for the fact that Emma is already in a serious relationship with someone else. He is overconfident and not likeable at all.

His presence in this book turned Emma into a fickle, flirty, moronic girl. When you felt like her and Galen were made for each other and were to be mated to then introduce this "love triangle" was ridiculous. It felt forced and pointless.

WORLD ★★★☆☆ --
One of the things I loved the most about the first two books was the mythology and the world itself. The Syrena are so interesting and have so much history. I really do like the idea of there being this town of half-breeds and there was so much more that could have been done that would have made the book something "more" but sadly it just fell flat on its fin.

ENDING ★★★☆☆--
The ending was nice and had everything wrapped up in a nice, tidy bow with everything as you would want it to be. I just feel that everything else in the book was unnecessary and the same ending could have been put into another chapter or epilogue of book two and that would have been just as good.

OVERALL ★★☆☆☆ --

Overall I do recommend the series to readers who enjoy a fast-paced read, full of mythology and fantasy. It is easy to read with a lot of laugh out loud moments. I do not recommend this final book though unless you enjoy angst, love triangles for the sake of love triangles and stories that don't need to be told.

¿A qué me refiero?
Saludos, Danna.

Overall, I thought that this series was just okay, nothing really spectacular. I started reading this series because I wanted something that had similar elements to the korean drama I was watching, and I did find that here.

I felt that this one was by far the weakest of the series, and a weak conclusion. The plot of this one could have been added at the end of the second one and made it a duology. It didn’t seem like the ending had the strength that it could have had. The epilogue is okay, but I feel like what came before it was too weak to make it powerful and meaningful.

Spoilers!

I know that Galen is trying to protect Emma, but he is way too overprotective to the point of being controlling. I don’t like how this series does sort of reinforce traditional gender roles with the super strong, jealous and controlling Syrena males needing to fight it out. This is true not only for this book, but throughout the entire series, In the fights between Galen and Toraf, Rayna not being present for her own mating ceremony, and Reed’s constant pursuit of Emma even though she says that she is already dating Galen. Galen in generally acted horribly at the beginning of the book, and honestly I did hate him because he just left Emma there. I felt like that was a very reprehensible thing to do.

Reed was just really annoying because he continued to hit on Emma despite her saying that she was already in a relationship. And the fact that the author threw in this sort-of love triangle randomly in the third book, not the first or second. It was really unnecessary because it was always clear who she would choose in the end. Emma found Reed attractive and alluring especially because he was a Half-Breed like her, but it was clear she was never in love with him. I can never picture Reed as the same age as Emma, I always image him as 12-14 at the most. The way he speaks and acts makes him seem really immature, which is probably why I can only picture him as much younger than them.

I thought that Galen and Emma found Reed and Neptune way too easily. There really was no challenge or struggle there, because they found Reed in the first spring they went to when they stopped. Yes, it is set up to be that they found Neptune by sheer luck, but it just seemed like they didn’t really do anything to actively look for Neptune. It was just too convenient and it pulled me out of the story and made me aware that it was a plot device.

Galen’s argument with Emma and his later disappearance was sort of like the miscommunication trope that I hate, where everything could be solved if the characters just talked to each other. In this case, the whole situation of Reed hitting on Emma could have been solved if Galen was there or if she actually knew what was going on.

I got annoyed at Galen because he didn't care about the other half breeds at all. He only cared about Emma. It's fine that he cared about her but he was obviously prejudiced against them, and he only cares about the laws and follows them when it's convent for him.

After a while I was tired of Galen being trapped and being in the dark as to what's going on. I felt it dragged on too long and just added to the unnecessary love triangle with Reed and allowed Reed to keep hitting on Emma even though she said she wasn't in treated in him. I also got really annoyed with Emma for letting Reed kiss her because she is already with Galen and she said she wasn't interested in him. I didn't like that she gave in to his advances. There was just a lot of annoying tropes and plot points in general with this book.

Teleurstellend. :( echt heel jammer. Ik had hele hoge verwachtingen.

I feel so let down by this. [b:Of Poseidon|12425532|Of Poseidon (The Syrena Legacy, #1)|Anna Banks|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327879889s/12425532.jpg|17375535] and [b:Of Triton|15513156|Of Triton (The Syrena Legacy, #2)|Anna Banks|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1355733528s/15513156.jpg|21169646] were so good and I was quite looking forward to reading the conclusion to the trilogy. But I'm so disappointed.

Of Neptune didn't take the path I thought it would. The story was jumpy and it felt somewhat fragmented to me - not to mention the abrupt ending, even if it was sort of explained in the epilogue. The main problem was the amount of plot holes this book threw up for me.
Like, when Tyrden is torturing Galen, he pours salt water on him which apparently irritates his wounds, and he can't drink it? But he lives in salt water how the hell does that work? And how does Emma talk underwater if she can't breathe underwater?

I'm just disappointed. That is all.

Actually let’s say 4.5 stars... it just wasn’t quite up to the level as the first two.

Overall I was very happy with this mermaid-like story. They tend to disappointment so I’m more than glad this series (well two out of three at the moment) sits on my shelf.

what was the point of this book exactly? It all felt forced and melodramatic. literally nothing happens in this book. And what in the world would possess you to introduce a love triangle in the 3rd book after everything has already been cleaned up in book 2. Ughh just why Anna Banks. The lack of Rayna and Toraf increased the suck factor by a hundred. Emma was being a whiny little brat and Galen spent his time being tortured (which by the way has no co relation to the other books). I am beyond done.

I LOVED the first book. I loved the second book. And I HATED this book.

Of Triton was unnecessary and a little bit annoying. There was a love triangle that felt like it was added just so the author could get on that bandwagon. And a lot of the characters seemed so whiny. Not to mention, there was a lot of action. Action isn't bad, unless it doesn't seem like it plays an important role in the plot. Which is exactly the case.

The epilogue was the best part of the whole book, and I wish the second book had ended with that.
