Such a great trilogy! I don't know if I'd read it again but i definitely enjoyed it! The plot in this book was kinda basic I could tell what was going to happen by chapter 12 but overall it was very good!
I really wish that goodreads let us do half-star reviews. I debated a long time on how many stars to rate not only this book, but the other two as well. I went back and forth between two and three before I finally settled on three for each. About halfway through this book, I figured out my exact feelings for this series: I really like the idea and the overall plot. I really don't like the characters. I don't like the obsessive love, the crazy jealousy, the feeling that Emma belongs to Galen. It's all the gag-worthy crap I hated about the Twilight series, just with mermaids. However, once I'm able to choke that down, I like the mermaid angle, and I like the conflicts and struggles the characters encounter, as long as they stay away from the romance part of it. But, then again, I have to remind myself that this is targeted for "young adults," which is to say tweens. I don't know if I would have lapped the romance up when I was that age - I might have been too cynical even then. But I do know lots of girls of that age would - and do - love it. So, for what it is, it's not bad. I don't regret reading this series.
This book felt drawn out to me and not much was happening.
Ok series overall. Good idea just not executed properly enough for me to be fully engaged.

I maintain the stance that these books are the best unintentional comedies besides More Than Us by Jay McLean. I don't know why I read all three of these books or what compelled me to read book two, let alone book three, but here we are.
One thing I found to be incredibly hilarious was the half fish boy, Reed, and how he was like instantly in love with Emma after having known her less than a few hours. There was a part where he was telling her he wouldn't kiss her until he knew she wanted it, until she decided between him and Galen and I was cringing and laughing so hard it physically hurt me. It was like Banks read Siege and Storm and completely misunderstood the weight and meaning behind Nikolai saying something very similar to Alina. The reason it works there is because Alina and Nikolai genuinely have a connection and, on top of that, she's trying to use that connection (and him in general) to escape from her inner turmoil and crippling isolation. The reason it is so funny here is because Emma meets Reed, Galen and Emma get into a fight, and Reed says that whole thing after they've known each other maybe a total of two days at the absolute most and there is no reason for him to say this at all.
Also, speaking of the fight Emma and Galen Erso have, they never actually worked any of the things hey were fighting about out. They kind of just shrugged and went, "Eh whatever lets get married in a year and then we can fuuuuuuck." Comedy gold.
I think Anna Banks has a weird obsession with puking. Just read all three of these books and you'll see, almost every single character either ralphs, talks about ralphing, or gets ralphed on at one point or another and it's so weird, descriptive, and nasty I'm worried it might be like...a thing she's in to. I hate it. I'm so uncomfortable.
I talked about this a bit in one of my past reviews of the other two books, but I still really do not get why these books are half first person POV from Emma's perspective while the other half is third person POV from Gay-len's perspective. Why not just have alternating first person POV? Or make them both third person? It literally makes no sense and I will never understand it.
These books are so bad. I don't know why I put myself through them but I made it out. Laughter was my only defense agains the weird vomiting, bad writing, and insta-love and it was enough to get me through this trilogy that I had zero obligation to read. Glad I didn't pay a fuckin' cent on this shit at least, because goddamn what a train wreck. Like...Jesus Christ. Train. Wreck.

I really do enjoy this series so much! I wish there was more books! I can't believe they finally did it!! The thing that allows them to be together forever now! Galen + Emma = forever :)

Definitely my favourite out of the Syrena series! This summer, I was craving something from my past and I wasn’t quite sure what it was.
Finding a book surrounding mermaids lit a childhood nostalgia in me and I needed to read the whole series as soon as possible.
Out of all the books, this one took me the most time to get through but I wasn’t disappointed. I loved how this story had a mystery behind it, compared to the others which were okay.
Having understood who all the characters made for a more enjoyable experience.

Finish the series I said. It will be fun I said. I absolutely loved the first book in this trilogy and did not like the second and so I didn’t read the final book for three years. If only I never have. I hated this book. Few books make me out them down because I’m seething with anger and cannot continue. This is one of them. First I absolutely hated the characters the heroine the most. She is the most immature stupid chick and I don’t remover if she was like that in the first two but I could not handle it this time. Also she totally cheats and the hero apologizes TO HER for giving her reasons to doubt him! Are you kidding me! It was her fault for cheating that’s not at all excusable. Also why the hell did the author even have a love triangle in this book? To show the absolutely nauseating immaturity of the heroine? If so it succeeded. I felt so bad for the hero who is literally tortured for most of this book but his girlfriend doesn’t even think to look for him or care about him because she’s so concerned with her own feelings. And then the hero had to grovel to win her back!? Also the new guy brought into the triangle is a complete dick! Who repeatedly pursues a taken person after repeatedly being told to stop? A dick that’s who. I could rant about this for ages but more than anything I wish I had stopped at book one which was full of fake dating, high school angst, and falling in love. Both of the follow ups ruin what that first book had.

I think that because I was so invested in this series, I had a much higher expectation. This story was entertaining enough, and it held my interest. (I devoured it in one day!)
That being said, I was not thrilled about the turn of events that happened in this book. I feel like the relationship between Emma and Galen was in a very good place at the end of book 2, so seeing the relationship drama in this book left me feeling unsettled. It almost didn't make sense to me. Not to say that all relationships are perfect, but I feel like the conflicts within this book almost seemed a little forced.
All that aside, I still think this series as a whole is fantastic. I love all the characters, and especially loved her imaginative world building. I feel like with the Mermaid genre there are so many over-done plot lines. This series stands out for me, and ranks high on my list.

The addition of another "love interest" didn't work for me. I feel like it was almost drama for the sake of drama. All that aside, I still think this series as a whole is fantastic. This book was....not great. It felt very unnecessary, as the second book came to a neat conclusion. But of course, here’s the obligatory third book that is worthless. This story adds no value to the world the author has created, its missing almost all of the characters from the rest of the series for 80% of the book, and the plot is so predictable. There’s parts of this that contradict things we’ve learned int the first books and it just feels careless on the part of the author. I was eye rolling throughout this entire book because this is such a classic trope of miscommunication and a love triangle that is so incredibly unneeded I could scream. I hated this. Save yourself some time and just read the first two books.
The final book did wrap everything up well, but as expected. The last minute attempt at a boy decoy triangle felt like a waste of time. The new villains were just quickly thrown into the mix. It was not my favorite in the series and I feel like the story could have been done in two books.
