I have already written (more than) one song but this book was still wonderful, because I love mr. tweedy's style of writing, and the book is mostly about having the discipline to get something done, which is the sort of thing it is almost always helpful to read about.

Will “How to Write One Song” turn you into a songwriter – even a one-time song smith, let alone the author of a deep catalog? It’s not guaranteed. Will the book make you hold the act of creation in the same reverence as it does Jeff Tweedy? Probably. Jeff Tweedy is one of my favorite songwriters. This book offers a glimpse into his creative process, from structured, intentional efforts to make a song happen, to just being open to the muse. He offers some tricks and exercises to help people break through their creative roadblocks, and he does it in a relaxed, candid, and folksy way. You get a real sense for who Tweedy is as an artist and as a person. What you really come away with from reading this book is that Tweedy finds songwriting an almost magical exercise in creativity that brings him joy (even when the resulting song does not). He is confident that you can find that same joy, and he wants to help you get there.
