Yes, there are times Ling Xiao was an ass. Yes, he wasn't always kind. But, he's also a beast (king of the beasts?) Not quite human. Not all animal. And, he'd never had a mate before. There were times I wanted to smack him and times I thought he was wonderful. Felt like I was watching him mature because by the book's end, he seemed to finally have it together.

Momo was a great character. His evolution as he grew up was nuts. No spoilers, but he really changed. Momo and Ling Xiao are very similar to the characters in Mecha Slave Contract - another favorite because both main characters went through many changes, many difficulties and became masters in their own right.

Momo, Boss, the Qiu team, their nutty families, all the interesting side characters? Loved it all.
