Everything about this series blows me away. From the vividly psychedelic panels, to the deeply complex characters, to the highly nuanced reflections on militarization and complicity in colonization, to the mysteriously cryptic science fiction/magic, I love it all. This volume takes a bit of a slower pace than its predecessor, but I really enjoyed how Vep’s internal turmoil and relationships with her fellow academy students was explored more thoroughly. All in all an EXCELLENT new addition to this series and I’m greatly looking forward to the next installment!
