In my copy of the book, the introduction added a lot of insight that definitely shifted my opinion of this work. This was a piece the world was never meant to see, but is likely better for it.
Marcus Aurelius was apparently dying at some point while writing this piece of illness, and it's fascinating to see him shift between feelings of maintaining such a hard outer facade, and then noting the cracks where an impending death likely does rattle him to a degree (as it would many of us).
While pure stoicism to me seems likely impossible, to adopt these principles and the many points of wisdom provided by Marcus, would benefit most people.

This book contains wise observations about life and humanity. His wisest conclusions are Biblical, although that was not part of his philosophy.

While a nice collection of short reflections, I found it got redundant and tiresome after book four or five. If you’re looking for a more engaging narrative on stoicism, I would skip this and start with On the Shortness of Life by Seneca.
