I “read” this as an audiobook while going for walks. It was harder to understand this way, would have probably been easier to read it on paper, so I’ll probably do that next time. Still I liked it.

Savotiškai susišaukė su [b:Memoirs of Hadrian|12172|Memoirs of Hadrian|Marguerite Yourcenar|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1416448158l/12172._SX50_.jpg|1064574], nors ši, tiesa, ne autobiografinė, o grožinė.

It was okay. The parts that I enjoyed were the writing. Some quotes really stood out. I think it could have been better if the quotes were longer because some were short and did not really hit the point they were trying to make. Good read regardless if you are really into stoicism.

Marcus Aurelius is just a chill guy who wants you to live the chill, honorable life. Follow nature’s path, remember your time is not infinite, rely on your actions over your words, and you’ll be set on a solid path to being that reliable homie.

Many of his reasonings and analogies felt like they were reaching and outdated, but it’s okay, you’ll still be on the path to being a cool guy.

While I'm sure Marcus' musings were never meant to be read by anyone and were merely the platitudes of a powerful man trying his best to uphold his best possible moral standing, I'm absolutely certain they were never meant to be read by me at the time I read them. His writings are too personal and interwoven with his own ethical diagram and as such I feel no sort of connection to them, and worst of all I don't find them entertaining to read. A wonderful touchstone, but not an experience I enjoyed.
