really enjoyed this. beautiful spare writing. evocative and emoting, but not over-the-top. loved the references and mentions.

again, fab idea of art monster. art monster as initial goal, and then sidetracked by marriage, and then you get the opportunity to be an art monster once more, but not really on your own terms. suddenly it's not so appealing, a punishment instead of a triumphant statement.

Stunning reflection on marriage. The narration is very poetic but disjointed. A wife tells about her relationship and the struggles they face from a very colicky baby to an affair.

I am a really really slow reader. I know this book was short-short, but I had no intention of staying up so late last night and finishing this. I just couldn’t put it down. I don’t really know how to tell you about this book, but read this. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking and so refreshingly honest I’m a world full of masks. But most importantly, it catches all those moments and flashes of insight that most of us accidentally let slip into the aether.

This book was super cool as a concept, and I think offill is immensely talented, I had a good time reading it but I think it is not super my style, as I tend to prefer books that have a little more grounding, where this book feels more in the ether and I was less able to piece together all of the bits of it. I think it was a great portrayal of how there are all these emotionally charged bits of your life, and they all feel significant and final in the moment but eventually become a blip in a longer story
