I enjoyed this as an audiobook - fun and good characterisation on the whole. 

The world building felt a little off for me, I think more time should’ve been dedicated to that. I’m a very visual reader and I struggled to see the locations throughout the book. 

I knew where the plot was going pretty much the entire time, but that’s a wider Romantasy issue at this point. Not groundbreaking. 

Also - where’s the fox at the end??

Slow paced to begin with while the author explains the world and magic system. The pace accelerates a little bit past the half way point. The romance is almost enemies to lovers, but with an interesting twist. I’m hoping for some spin off novels with the other characters!

Heavy/excessive swearing. Writing is not great, with too many extra unnecessary words and very sloppy, with clear unsurity of high fantasy lingo. Plot is good and the second half is better.
