The first 10 pages or so are rough, but once you get into the actual story being told, I thought it was pretty interesting.

Had a bit of trouble keeping track of who was speaking, and I think there were a couple of spots where the person speaking was misidentified. Nothing major, just a bit confusing.

Sadly DNF :( I wanted to like it - it sounded so interesting and I HATE giving up on books, especially diverse books.

I couldn't get past the rambling voice of the MC and the narration. I made it past the first section, which was hard, wanting to give it a really good chance. Though the second section was easier for me to start working through, I found I was not purposely picking up the book during off moments and WFH breaks. I wasn't drawn to keep reading and didn't actively seek to do so though I've been reading through the whole pandemic without issue.

The mythology and history feel well interwoven. I'm sorry I could not get into it to enjoy it more.

Bahhhh this was okay- and I may change this rating yet, but have largely given it 3 stars for ambition and scale. Admittedly, fantasy is not my bag, and my god was this fantasy.
We follow Tracker, a mercenary with a legendary nose that can track anyone and anything. He lives in a brilliantly realized- yet fucking insane- world, where there are half animal/half humans; spirits and ghosts; children as tall as giraffes or shaped like balls; the list goes on.
A motley group of mercenaries are brought together to find a boy who has been taken by a demon, and before you say this sounds all fellowship of the ring, there’s graphic sex scenes, brutal, gory deaths; R-rated language. You don’t hear Legolas banding round ‘cunt’ every five minutes. As I say it’s ambitious, but often I struggling to imagine a lot of the places or creatures; perhaps this would have worked better as a graphic novel? And yes, as can happen in a fantasy, there were times where I was like, oh this is a bit silly.
There wwwre some lovely bits, like Tracker and Mossi’s relationship, and also his relationship with Leopard; it was also funny in parts. But still, this often felt like a trek and then some

This book is filled with sexual scenes that are obscene and unnecessary. The prose are also rough and the plot is hard to follow and incoherent.

At the beginning, I was hooked and intrigued but I struggled through most of this book because I disliked the main character and found him annoying and frustrating. Although I liked how the book was written and was fascinated by the world, I was frustrated when the characters spoke to each other as they all spoke in riddles and I just wanted them to have a normal coversation

I did, however, get drawn in again at the end, which has increased it from a 3 to a 3.5 star review.
