Thanks to the author for sending me a copy of this book as a gift - friend perks are great ❤️ Returning His Favor is a promising steamy debut with so many of my favorite things:
- small town Wisconsin
- a librarian
- sisters
- a strong sensitive alpha
- so much talk of feminism
There is talk about body size in the story, but it’s part of the story and part of Melissa’s character growth. I believe the depiction of Amish culture was handled sensitively for the most part. There are a few minor things (mostly word choice in the bedroom scenes) throughout the book that could have benefited from the traditional publishing editing process, but I’m so impressed with the quality of this story and the gentle humor infused throughout. That’s why I love the rise of self-publishing - we get to hear SO many new voices!
I can’t wait for the next book in the series!! The teaser for it in the last pages of this book are VERY intriguing!

I loved this book - from the very beginning I loved Melissa. I felt like we would be great friends and I just wanted to go out to eat with her and talk about dating mishaps and photography. And bring Maddie too so there could also be book talk!
And Jakob? Swoon. Yes please.
I made the mistake of starting this book when I should have only spent a couple minutes - and kept saying “one more chapter”. When I finally, begrudgingly, set it aside at 50% to take care of some life stuff - I found myself thinking about the characters and wanting to get back to Wisconsin and their story ASAP.
If you love a super steamy romance with characters you will want to know in your real life, this story is for you. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!!
