Been ages since I last read a classic book.
I think I have a new fav book! I loved this one so much that I listened to the audiobook then started reading the ebook.
The first thing that made me fall in love with it is the writing- every sentence is well thought out and fulfills its purpose.
The plot and the characters are another point that made the book come together as a masterpiece. the book is haunting in its style and idea. the writing gave me Dark academia vibes maybe it can be considered one.
HOWEVER, It fell short on the twist part, I really was hoping and waiting for something more obscure devilish haunting ghostly, and scary frightening to happen. In the end, It wasn't that much impactful.
Highly recommended. the writing alone made me read it after listening to the audio, to highlight my lines and enjoy every word.

horrible. just horrible. no plot. no spooks. Nell was a complete child. the ending was abrupt and useless. absolutely horrible. if the doctors wife died or someone actually told her to shut the F up i would have given this more stars.
